<snore>Localism and Getting Feelings Hurt</snore> Here's a real issue that... [video]

Surfers of all skill and anger levels should be uniting and getting fired up about. I know I see it at every break I surf in the North Bay. The tiny little chomped up digestible plastic pieces are the ones that really turn my stomach. So when the locals tell you to take a hike... at least pick up some plastic on the way out.

MCBL : 7am : Poor surfing @ Bo. Swell looked more like wind than ground. 1 guy out bobbing up/down in choppy channel. Maybe WH > CH mush.

DP @ Bo 7:30-8:30. Chest to HH+. HH+ mostly closed out. Big, lumpy and actually kind of mean for Bo. More people looking than surfing. MCBL

good surfing conditions at Marin - Bolinas

Surfed "The Groin" btwn 7 - 8:30am. Chest to head high +. Clean and somewhat hollow with a stiff cold offshore breeze holding things up. Small morning DP crowd with everyone catching their fair amount of waves and stoke. If you're heading out there's a big tide swing so not sure how things will hold up in front of the channel on the outgoing but it could get fun at the Patch with a long(ish)board.

poor surfing conditions at Marin - Bolinas

Checked Bolinas around 11am. Totally flat. There were 4 or 5 people drifting like shark bait in the channel. I assume the weekend will be much the same but with 20 or 30 people floating around. Looking like a good weekend to hike or ride in West Marin.

fair surfing conditions at Marin - Bolinas

Checked out Bolinas at sunrise. Surprisingly there wasn't much happening compared to the last 2 days. Some folks were headed to the patch for some knee-waist bumps but the groin looked very small and inconsistent. If you're heading north of the golden gate I would definitely stick to the west facing beaches.

I give it a "fair" if you have a longboard and haven't surfed during the past 2 days.

poor surfing conditions at Marin - Bolinas

"Surfed" The Groin between 8-11am. About big toe to knee high with a couple waist high gems... BUT... the weather was amazing, the water clear and lots of sea creatures to keep you visually stimulated.

good surfing conditions at Marin - Bolinas

Surfed "The Groin" from 10-12pm. Mostly waist hight with a few chest / shoulder sets. Clean glassy and all lefts for those into that sort of thing. Either the sandbar is shaping up nicely this fall or the S. Swell is still pulsing because it was pretty fun out there.

Hey Non-Luddites Who Use Twitter

Just found that buoy 46026 (18 NM West of San Francisco, CA) has a twitter feed.

But be warned... this easy access to buoy data will be the downfall of surfing as we know it.

fair surfing conditions at Marin - Bolinas

Surfed The Groin. 8-10am. Sunny, clean and mostly waist high. Some chest high sets. There seems to be a nice little pulse of S. Swell in the water but the tides will be pretty extreme for the rest of the day and the wind was picking up when I left. Fun morning for a longboard.

Poor +. Surfed the Groin. 7:30-9am. Was hoping for a s swell but there wasn't much energy in the water. Glassy, clear w/ no wind. 2-3ft. 3 may be stretching it.

Went out at the Groin between 7:30-9:30am. Glassy with some actual shape to the larger sets. Rights were pretty much closed out but lefts were working. Waist to head + with some long lulls in between. Dangerously crowded. Bring a motorcycle helmet.
