Somebody asked me why I wasn't wearing a hood or earplugs in the water a couple sessions ago. They said I should be preventing Surfer's Ear. They also work at a hospital and have sat in on a surgery. Wondering what ya'll use to prevent surfers ear. It looks like a pretty gnarly surgery (see youtube). Is it something to be concerned with?

I was arguing with a buddy about the best time to surf OB. I think that it's better as the tide drains out from mid to low and he seems to think that it's better as it fills in. (He ain't from these parts). I tried explaining that Linda Mar works better on an incoming tide but OB doesn't follow the same formula.
