First, let me say that I have total respect for Clark, Linden, and all the surfers involved in the event. And it is understandable that they ran the Maverick's contest today: Sunny, warm, Sunday (more spectator draw to the festival=$ for the contest and local economy) etc. And maybe there won't be another contestable day in the waiting period this year, so they made the call. Understandable.

So I went to post positive comments about New Zealand on the video post, but I can't post positive comments because apparently my "karma points" are in the negative from trying to defend my position against the onslaught of misinformed d..bags (I mean friends with different perspectives) on here who think they know what I am talking about.

I'm a huge fan of Dane's surfing, like most these days. Dissent of his approach is rare in the surf world, but dare I say, refreshing? Mauro has some good points, especially the comparison with De Souza, IMO.
