Surf Reports by Capra

At a rocky area with twin pipes from 3-5pm - a gusty side-shore breeze made for some annoying splashing in the eyes while paddling into a headwind to keep position. Wind aside, it was O-K, I guess... Better than LM, I'm sure.. But still with a good share of close outs. The bounce was giving some life to the waves at times, but it also flattened out a few that initially looked like they were going to be good. That said, still a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Saturday 6pm - Linda Mar, fair- surfing

Even though there wasn't much wind, it was far from clean. Had a couple crap close out whitewater rides and a nice, exceptionally long left from far outside all the way in toward Chalupaville and decided to end it on that high note.

HMB was FUN today at kook-pipeville. Long period meant some waiting, but there were some fun & zippy ones to be had. Nice sunny & warm weather to boot.. and no wind!

But what the hell, why not throw up a 35' for good measure ;)

Rant - Cold Water!

Been feeling a little colder out there? Check out the local sea surface temps... as much as 5 degrees below February normals. Might explain the extra chilly sea breeze lately.

Rant - Ear plugs

I know this has been discussed before, but I wanted to open up the conversation again. I've been surfing for over 10 years and within the last year, I bought some Doc's Pro Plugs in the hopes of preventing the dreaded surfer's ear. First, I tried some smaller ones, they seemed to fit okay, but they let some water in, so I figured they were too small...

What a letdown after yesterday. Small, flat, mushed out. There were a few short, soft rides to be had in between the long waits, but nothing special at all. Blah. At least the weather was warm.
