Arrived at this San Mateo spot and was surprised to find a crowd and camera crew. Though elder statesman Jeff Clarke was there suiting up, the cameras weren't there for him - Bethany Hamilton was in town (perhaps a premiere of her new film "Soul Surfer"?) and did a brief interview for the cameras on the shore before suiting up and joining a dozen of us in the water.

Hi Folks: A friend, Dan Duane (many of you have read his articles and books including "Caught Inside" and "Looking For Mo") had a tough session at OB/###### yesterday - leash snapped on a big wave and he had a difficult swim to shore. His trusty board - an 8'10" Rusty gun (printed "made for Dan" on the stamp") did not make it to shore, at least not while he was looking.
