Rant - Anybody have experience with summertime surf in Kauai?

Hi all. I am going to kauai for about a week for a friends wedding in June. never been to the islands, and i was wondering if anybody has any experiences they would like to share, especially about summertime surf on the island, where to rent or buy boards, and friendly places to surf that are still good. my skill level is pretty decent but not overwhelming.

Friday 10pm - San Mateo - Other, fair+ surfing

somewhere between fair and good somewhere south of the Salinian Block (look it up! learn something!) - chest to shoulder high. find a place to hide from the wind, and you got it made.

Thursday 10pm - Linda Mar, poor+ surfing

haha I actually went out in the slop tonight. was pretty bad, but still nabbed a few fun corners here and there. right time + right equipment + trashy waves = ?? I won't say the location I have been going to lately, which has been a lot better, but i thought with the south wind and all lindy would be moderately fun. not too disappointed.

Linda Mar, you dirty little ****. when your'e bad you can be so good. don't listen to those others badmouth you out there....saying your'e so ugly and your'e second best. nobody appreciates you the way I do.

Rant - LM local

I was just wondering; I used to see this older gentleman, at least about sixty though i suspect older than that out at LM frequently. gray beard, small statured, and constantly riding a short fish. the guy pretty much ripped. sometimes he would be with who i assume to be his grandson. anyway, i just haven't seen dude out in at least a year.

Thursday 11pm - Linda Mar, fair surfing

got to LM about 2:30; left and came back about 3:30; from here on it got much improved, as the wind direction shifted around and the tide filled in. strong south current; must have got out and walked up the beach half a dozen times. semi-good rights; and a few make-able lefts. Saw the groms getting lots of waves. still wonder how it is i can get swept down the beach, merrily on my way, while a bunch of what look like 5th graders stay in position with no problem. what gives? I give it a fair.
