Surf Reports by futuresparky

crowded. conditions were crowded. hyper competitive, aggro, some very very fast surfers in the water, and packed to the gills, which is pretty much exactly what i expect every time i go to a place that has a road leading to a parking lot with a shower and a staircase leading to a break with barely any paddle and a consistent peak. i rate it fair because of the crowd, and oh yeah, you can call me weird, but point breaks can get so boring after a while. i kinda like it when swell hits an open beach, breaking up the crowd, and leaving people to have to use snap judgment in the water to see what will or won't hold up versus knowing exactly what a wave will do every time. on the plus the weather was awesome and the waves when you could snag one were pretty fun. all in all, i give the experience a fair while the actual conditions themselves were very good.

Ya know, I just thought I would put this out there. I've noticed that the comments voted down the most on this site are pretty much hater-style. It's funny, cause some users who routinely post spiteful messages get voted down, then cry to the moderator about how the voting system is unfair! The last time I checked, the site was called stoke report, not troll report!!

Sunday 11pm - Linda Mar, poor surfing

yep - poor, but pretty darn fun. lots of wind - blowing my board around as I trudged through the strong south wind, lots of blown over-ness in the waves, lots of water moving around from the wind blowing on it, but somehow it was still fun. the sets were fun, with good lefts that lasted for a hundred yards or so, the clean-ups were fun, cause they had both a lot of power yet were blown over from the back so they didnt come slamming down like some insane water guillotine, the crowds were spread out nicely, and it ended being poor conditions with a fairly fair to fairly fun session.

Anybody remember that great phrase made popular by the public enemy song, "don't believe the hype?" well, apparently i wasn't listening when i purchased the beater.... all i could think about were those great commercials with the cool music and the guys pulling a bunch of 360s.

I know this off topic of surfing per se, however it is totally on topic for the health of our mother ocean and earth. Please read this - this is not made up, it is totally real. Please take a moment of time to consider how just a few minutes may help save the U.S. largest salmon population from degradation or potential extinction!

I want all us stoke reporters to remember: Be a positive, perky person who "tells it like it is" without being too harsh. Be your own best friend, honest and true. Things don't make you happy in life, and you can't expect anyone else to get you there either. Happiness comes from within and you just gotta put yourself in the right mindset or it's never gonna happen! GO TEAM!!
