off\side\off shore shore is grooming some of the chop and folks are riding WH waves on well defined peaks. Longer wait than usual between sets. The longer period swell is showing up, albeit inconsistently. Bottom line: if you thought it was worth it to surf last week (I did) then its worth surfing now, imho.

summary: small cold wind slop under bright sunshine

I got a bit too enthusiastic about Mexican independence last night and decided to clear the cob webs with a morning double ... I surfed a beach break 'tween HMB and LM (which shall remain nameless out of respect for the locals who enjoy having shifty peaks and strong currents all to themselves) and after I got tired of chasing after mushburgers I got in the car, wetsuit and all, and continued the session at LM. There, it was small and alternately crumbly and closed out, but there was a ride or two.

parking lot report | completely blown out at 0730 | maybe 1 peak at 0830 but motivation was gone with the wind (ha ha ha)

double digit side/on shore winds. weekend crowds. slow recovery from low low tide. you make the call.

glass half empty: fast current, shifty peaks and strong winds mean its harder to get in position for a decent wave, and as there are a few experienced surfers in the water, their is competition for each wave even if you are in position. glass half full: strong wind is grooming it up and creating a few tubes, there is solid swell in the water, the rising tide is doing good things, the sun is shining, folks were friendly, and there is a sweet and empty (!) left working down in front of the mini-cliff ~ 200 yards south of the jetty.

surfed in front of tb with Chris and Ryan. The company was definitely better than the waves but we three managed to get a bit of face time and *when* the you could link to inside section there was a fun and steep reform at the shore. I ducked into a mini curl and made it out the other side... such a thrill

SMLM made an amazing recovery after yesterday's winds and the result was downright fall like conditions. Clean waves (see below #1), plenty of pop (see below # 2) and consistent sets. It was crowded (see below #3), but it worked out. Whoot ocean!
