"A true displacement hull with a twist. Like all good hulls, it has an "S" deck thickness distribution, with a low swing weight thin nose and a tail oriented thickness and rocker for foot-over-the-fin drive.

"The explosive waves of Ocean Beach, a 3.5-mile stretch separating the city from the gray edge of the Pacific Ocean, have long been a draw for tourists, local families and an international tribe of surfers."

Insane account of a last minute trip to Chile to ride huge waves...

"I weigh my options and realize that if I get caught by a big one I'll get blown all the way through the reform on the inside and my day will be over. I'm not making it back out. If I break my leash, I'll never see my board again. My only play is to sit outside and wait for a big clean one and hope I make it."

Anybody see the the editorial 'stoking the ire' in the back pages of the new Surfer's Journal? All about the controversy of live reporting and stokereport. H20MansLibrary and cryptomail get special mention. Of course the moral of the story is that vague is vogue.

Hey all, anyone have a dermatologist they really like? Long overdue for a general screening and if someone has a doc they really like (or one to avoid), ideally in SF, would appreciate the recommendation.

I was not actually out at PP; it was somewhere east of cowells and west of new brighton....

and it was small, somewhat sloppy, and mostly gutless. but not cold! south swell was pretty much a no show as of 4pm. one wave sets. but then i lucked into a little waist high runner and all was right with the world again. long wait. then another. just me and one other familiar face. then four more paddled out and the wind got worse. in the grand scheme of things, it was horrible. for how much i've surfed lately, it was alright.
