mmmmmm OB wasn't looking so hot. Found a bunch of slightly smaller, softer, but clean wavers. I had a blast but it was a bit board dependent... shortboards were bogging a bit, seemed foamier boards were the call.

Based on insanely high wave count (for me) as well as lack of wind & gorgeous weather I'm giving it a fair -. Debatable, could have been poor +.

Wednesday 9am - Ocean Beach, poor surfing

OB & the surrounding areas were POOR this morning. Not gonna bother rating it beyond that. Everything looked like crap, couple of bad paddle sections, nothing working. We got in a bit further down south, and though I caught a few waves (and actually had a fun session), it was definitely POOR.

Today was a maintenance kind of day, and not a particularly good one at that.

Windless clean shoulder high conditions. A little bit gutless but still fun. Lots of little rides. pretty stoked given my options.

A bunch of us scoured the coastline this morning. Generally looked like shit everywhere as far as I could tell. However, our two groups independently found some decently surfable nuggets. Nugget 1 was (I believe) surprisingly well formed chest high at OB. Surprisingly because it really looked crappy most places.

Nugget 2 was points south where the swell was amplified into HH+ lumpy energy burgers. We drove around a bit more than I would have liked but were rewarded in the end with not so much great surf as fun-ish surf with some energy on a piss poor day. Actually pretty stoked in the end.

Wednesday 8am - Ocean Beach, fair- surfing

Winds have died down a lot. Short period wind swell with SH-HH shifty peaks on the sets. Lots of whitewater on the paddle out, some fun drops and shoulders to be had if you are patient. Not a bad day of surf considering what we've had recently.

Thursday 9am - Ocean Beach, fair surfing

Surprisingly fun day towards Alaska at OB. Dawn Patrol drive showed junky but surfable conditions up & down the beach, but we found one section that was fairly clean & suited up. Was definitely funky out there, but were a bunch of shoulder to head high waves that held up. There were some long lulls, but everyone caught at least a handful of fun waves and I scored one beautiful SH-HH right that made my day.

About a million times better than I expected. 'Fair' rating should be taken in context of expected crappy spring conditions & my stokedness at finding waves I did not anticipate.
