We've got a couple of cool new tees in the StokeReport shop.

Stokies. I'm trying out a new front page feature, the "Most Discussed" block. You can see it on the right hand side of the front page if you scroll down a bit. The idea was to allow us to dial into the most interesting discussions, especially after a few days away. The block shows the most commented reports or rants in the last week or so.

guys, a couple of years ago i had an idea for a site where people could share their love for surfing, by exchanging reports and articles. i created stokereport.com with a tagline of "share the love"

i wanted a site that was biased toward the positive, since so much of our daily interaction with each other, especially in the water, is biased the other way.

The CDIP 142 buoy that we use for all the front page graphs and data has drifted offsite. According to the activity log, recovery is in progress so hopefully we'll see the data again soon.

We've got quite a few new users on the site submitting awesome content. Thanks! Please remember to submit a rant if you're not reporting on conditions. There is a link for this at the bottom of every page.

StokeReporters, we've just added a new feature. Comment voting. The main motivation for this is to allow you to vote down the troll comments that we see from time to time on StokeReport. The voting gets factored into a karma algoritm that limits the troll's ability to continue to comment on the site.

2009 was a good year for rants. StokeReport readers submitted over 800 in total. I've picked a selection of my favorites. Drumroll please for the Top 21 Rants of 2009.

You may have noticed that we're testing a new feature on the Ocean beach page: A new high resolution picture of the north end of Ocean Beach that updates every minute during daylight hours. Take a look and let us know what you think.
