Wednesday 9am - Ocean Beach, poor surfing

Surfline says "Fair to Good"... so everyone get up and go check it out like I did! As you will see it's going off with "A Frame" disorganized slop and "Barrels" of close out chunky mess on a "Beautiful" freezing sideshore morning. At least the sun's out and it's got size. Around Head and a half to DOH... But yeah the swell period is way too short and the waves too disorganized to be any good even when the wind switches offshore at times. Don't be fooled... don't even bother. I'm not... I did see a few people making a go of it and getting short rides.
But there are some crows chewing on a dead baby seal carcass in front of me so I'll take that as a sign.

Tuesday 10am - Ocean Beach, fair surfing

I don't really know how to rate it. Punishing paddle on the inside. Pretty clean and good earlier on the outside with DOH set waves every 5-10 min where I was. Slight breeze but practically still. Just me out there. Just waited for the biggest set waves and thankfully I was borrowing my housemates Mavs gun and it worked great... Got to drop in way earlier even on the chunky ones.
I want one for the big less than perfect days like today...

I have a better time at Lindy's than the next guy b/c I have a longboard, enjoy offshore little peelers, and get along with "most" people who're out there. I enjoy surfing with the retirees.
But this morning went from a solid Fair+/Good- (for small wave longboarding standards) quickly detiorating to a Fair- or poor due to too many people on one peak and the tide started shutting it down. It was super dumb. And people got weirdly aggro. SUPers doing fine until it got congested with longboards and then having trouble weaving through. Dangerous at times but it wasn't anybody's fault specifically, just bad timing with too many people on one little peak.

Saturday 12pm - Ocean Beach, fair surfing

It was pretty fun out there for a while. Surfed from about 9:30 to 11. It was about head and a half on the sets and really clean and glassy right when I first paddled out. Long bending wave faces over some great bars reminded me of a good point.
For some reason I got caught in this inside shore-pulling current that was hard to get past. Once to the outside it was glassy and super fun for about 45min with lots of space. Wind picked up out of the south a bit and looks way worse now...

Tuesday 10am - Ocean Beach, fair surfing

Welp I made it to the outside...
... I think it's getting bigger. Sets were around DOH plus and scattered. I surfed right before high tide and should've picked a more manageable spot on the beach b/c it was a little crazy. Big beautiful powerful A-frame waves glistening in the sun but I didn't appreciate it while just trying to stay alive and out of the impact zone which proved very difficult. THought I was, but I wasn't and got held under a while. Caught one meaty giant wall that almost came down on me twice but I was able to push through the back and my little 7'2'' didn't break. Needed a bigger board. It was intense. Please be careful out there!

Surfed the evening 4 to sundown. Swells picking up a bit and the wind went from sideshore to offshore again. Pretty darn fun. Beat this morning for sure.
Have fun tomorrow kids!
