A diver has captured a photograph of a great white shark approaching his camera with a toothy grin like that of Bruce, the terror of the 2003 film Finding Nemo.

The often haunting photographs in this collection were all taken by immensely talented Jacob Cockle who lives "for art, music and good tea".

This is a great picture of surfers riding a very large wave at Dungeons, Cape Town. The surfer in the middle of the picture has a perfect dancers form. He went on to plie twice before making a bottom turn.

This may not be the ride of the swell, but I challenge you to produce photographic evidence to the contrary :) Kudos to the unknown OB rider.

This is fantastic. A grizzly smoking a cigar, a great white, a machine gun and surfing all beautifully worked into one great image. It would look great as tattoo covering your entire back.

With the sun setting on an older generation of women surfers, underscored by the recent retirement of seven-time world champ Layne Beachley, 37, the next tide of young women is ready to rise. Some of these female surfing prodigies came together in Crystal Cove State Park, in Newport Coast, California, to be photographed by iconic surf photographer Michael Halsband for Vanity Fair’s July issue.
