Snow Reports for Tahoe

Saturday 12pm - Kirkwood

TAKW what a difference a week makes. Lot of crust still, but the groomers are choice and bare spots are gone. Schralp!

Location is actually Mammoth but lucked out the past few days and scored fresh powder every single one of em. There are some killer flight / lift / and lodging deals going on with the resorts out there. We stayed in Juniper Springs and it felt like some lifestyles of the rich and fabulous setup, which was sick!

Sunday 4pm - Kirkwood

What Kirkwood lacked in new snow, it made up for in bigger crowds. All smiles. Sometimes you just gotta ski. #TAKW http://t.co/f4LAymUl

Friday 3pm - Kirkwood

http://t.co/jX22GbMS - TAKW patchy in parts, but well-groomed where there's cover. Sunny, minimal crowds. I did it for the Phresheez.

Sunday 10pm - Mt. Rose, good- skiing

Mt. Rose being up around 9000 feet has definitely benefited the most from this weekend.
Friday: it was dumping in Tahoe city but didn't turn into snow until night around 12.30ish, there could be an extra foot of snow if it was colder bummer...

Monday 10am - Northstar, fair- skiing

There's not much snow in Tahoe, so my 'Fair-' is relative to overall conditions. Not worth $101 unless you're rich or desperate. But if you have a Northstar pass, it's still kind of fun right now.

There were very nice man made snow conditions over the weekend with a few hard bits and bare spots but nothing too bad. I had a fun time screwing around on skis one day and a snowboard the next, as did my wife & kids. The place was empty and the sun was shining.

Saturday 12pm - Heavenly, good skiing

Light crowds on the Nevada side. Groomers are in good condition. Huge pseudo powder piles all over Olympic. Get out here!

$101 tickets, literally zero coverage where they aren't making snow, and icy conditions where they are. Pretty terrible conditions, but at least the runs were uncrowded. The Village was another matter. Jammed with people not skiing.

On a side note, not sure what they've spent $30M on at Northstar... Same crappy beads & candle stores in the Village. They dropped another lift on the Backside, but that just means they tore out some great tree skiing. Oh, and they added another bar/restaurant mid-mountain. Generic Asian/Mexican/American fare.

Royal Gorge - they had 4k, which is rapidly melting away. Snow had some dirt...and sticks...and rocks. Still fun to get in some xc skiing and use the paddling muscles for something else.

Saturday 10pm - Northstar

I just spent way too much time in the shower coming up with a hierarchy for different types of tans, then questioning whether to share it.

60 degrees at 10,000 feet. Thursday. Was up at donner summit for two amazing days of skiing, sun and heat. $15 at boreal on Fridays. Of course the snow got a bit sticky by mid-day but not a bad price to pay for skiing in a t-shirt. Light crowds but it we were there weekdays. The powder days are probably over but the sno-pack is awesome and there will be corn snow for a while.

Nice day trip to Sugar Bowl. Thought I was done for the season, but it keeps on storming. I rocked the one-piece, which is superb in the pow, but unfortunately less than ideal in the stall.

Wasn't too deep today, plus it was a whiteout, so only great minus. Still, it was my first time at SB, and I likes what I sees. Especially a bunch of the steepies we weren't allowed to go on today.

Saturday 11am - Kirkwood, great skiing

Double plus Epic. Dropped the wall first tracks. 10 ft of untracked powder. Felt like skydiving. Kind of cried at the bottom.
